観光産業はグローバル経済の大きな原動力です。コロナ禍前は、世界のGDPの約10％、新規雇用の25％を占めていました。交通運輸は、観光産業の40％を占める最大のサブセクターとして、持続可能な観光の未来を形成する上で重要な役割を担っています。

ITFは、世界中の公共交通機関において、公有、強力な労働基準、労働者と乗客による民主的参画を実現したいと考えます。女性、青年、インフォーマル労働者の平等はこの活動の中心を成します。
