The Dockers’ Senior Section Assistant will support the processes essential for the delivery of the Dockers Section priorities, including responsibility for managing working groups, preparation for meetings and chairing meetings, research and data analysis and deputising for the Dockers’ Coordinator.
The successful applicant will use their proven knowledge of the maritime industry and strong written communication skills to produce in-depth reports and analysis to support the section’s campaigns and projects. You will have responsibility for coordinating communication between many different groups including other ITF Maritime sections and contacts. Key to this role is the ability to produce high-quality written documentation.
The Section Assistant will also be responsible for coordinating solidarity action requests from affiliates and unions. The role deputises for the Dockers’ Coordinator and will be required to make presentations to internal and external audiences.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills across different audiences and an ability and have a flexible approach to differing opinions. You will be able to draw upon your experience in a union or social movement setting to support solidarity actions. You will also have experience with producing persuasive and informative content for social media channels.
Due to the international aspects of the organisation’s work, a good working knowledge of another language would be an advantage.
This role offers a salary of £46,724 per annum, plus a non-performance related guaranteed bonus equating to 1/12th of your annual salary.
