Future of Work

Digital technologies are being deployed throughout global transport, changing how we work, where we work and who we work for. For ITF, the Future of Work is everything related to reducing the negative impacts that new technology can have on workers. The 2018 Congress ratified the FOW as a central plank of ITF’s work over the next few years.

This means getting the right understanding of the issues and challenges technology poses to workers across ITF sectors. It means pushing for the right regulations to control what technology can and cannot do. It means ensuring that workers’ rights are respected through effective tripartite mechanisms at every level. It means ensuring workers get access to the right training and skills development. Which means developing the right policies. It means providing workers around the world with examples of best practice in how unions have dealt with the challenges posed by new technology. It means working with trade unions across every sector to develop a common strategy and a common approach to the issues new technology poses to all of us.
