The latest, special ITF podcast looking at the Covid-19 crisis has heard about the particular effects on working women.
ITF project specialist (ending violence against women transport workers) Kim Rojas talks to Lisa Kelly and Eva Guta.
Lisa Kelly is the national director of the women's department from Unifor the union, Canada, and Eva Guta is a labour and community activist in Canada, with over 20 years of dedication to stopping violence against women.
Eva Guta says that Covid-19 has created unique problems for many women at work: “Women have to go out and work and they have to divide themselves between the workplace and the home. And now everything you do outside of the home has an element of danger, so it’s a multi-layered situation that we might not have been faced with before."
The show also looks at how the Unifor women's advocate program is responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. The programme, started in 1989, supports women and men facing violence at work and at home.
