The toolkit is a package of materials and information intended to inform the response of unions to the introduction of new technology.
This consists of a framework through which workers can understand the ways technology can impact them. We have also collected example CBA clauses from agreements that deal specifically with the introduction of technology. Trade unionists should eventually be able to find clauses that relate to specific types of technology.
However, since the impact of technology is fundamentally determined by regulations, the legal system, we present some cases of what we consider to be positive regulatory frameworks – ones where workers have some say in how technology can be applied, and where they are prepared and compensated for its introduction.
This video (in Spanish) from the Argentinean Camioneros union explains the dynamic of technology adoption in capitalism.
