As a global organisation the ITF has an obligation to look at events from the global, the macro perspective.
As an organisation of trade unions we also have an obligation to look at events from the perspective of ordinary working people in transport and logistics wherever they may be in the world. But we cannot do this properly if we just focus on issues in transport and logistics.
Of all the sectors of the economy these areas are perhaps the most connected to geopolitical processes, as ITF experienced during the Cold War. So for us, the outlines of the future lie in the interaction of political, geopolitical, and economic processes, and the way that they will condition the development and deployment of technology.
