
Flemming Overgaard was born in 1970 in Odense, the third largest city in Denmark.
Flemming is educated as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked for Falck A/S (ambulance service and transportation of patients) from 1991 to 2007, and from 1994 to 2007 served as the shop steward.
From 2007 to 2014 Flemming Overgaard was Chairman of 3F Transport in 3F Fredericia (a local 3F Branch), and as of 2014, he is an elected union officer of 3F Transport at national level; since 2017, Flemming has been a part of the 3F Transport collective bargaining team.
Internationally, Flemming has served the trade union movement in a variety of positions; currently he is:
- President of the Road Transport section of the Nordic Transport Workers Federation
- Member of the steering committee in the Road Transport Section of the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF)
- Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (on behalf of FH – Danish Trade Union Confederation)
- Delegate for FH at the ILO Conference 2020 and 2021.
Also, Flemming Overgaard is internationally educated; from 2015- 2017 he was educated at the Nordic School for trade unionists, Geneva, Switzerland. The education was focused on the ILO conference, the work of ILO in general, tripartite dialogue as well as an international view and understanding of global professional issues.
Flemming has been heavily involved in the ETF and 3F Transport lobby work with European Road Transport legislation, in particular working on the European Mobility Package (Rules on cabotage, combined transport, rest time and not least, the posting of international drivers), which was finalised in 2020 and applicable from February 2022.
