The ITF is asking affiliates who have achieved wins on workplace issues for women transport workers, improving gender balance in the workplace, or increasing the role of women in union leadership or industrial disputes to complete a short survey. The ITF will use the findings to promote learning among its other members.
Jodi Evans, ITF women transport workers assistant co-ordinator, said: “We still want to celebrate and promote your wins for women transport workers on 8 March.
“But this year, our greater focus is on the stories of your wins and struggles, so that we can better understand how you got there, the guts of the process.
“For instance, it’s great to know that women are driving buses for the first time in Ethiopia, or that in Australia hundreds of thousands of workers now have access to domestic violence leave. But it’s even better if unions facing similar challenges in other countries can understand how unions have made those victories happen so that they can put the learning into practice themselves.”
