ITF stalwart voted union congress president

A member of the ITF executive board has been voted president of Singapore’s National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Mary Liew, the first woman to be general secretary of the Singapore Maritime Officers' Union (SMOU), a former nominated member of parliament, and the ITF’s first-ever woman Asia-Pacific executive board representative, has just been elected to the prestigious post.

ITF backs Air France unions

The executive board of the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation), representing transport workers’ unions worldwide, has spoken out today in Chennai, India, to back the unions confronting Air France’s job cuts plan. The board also expressed their and their unions’ support for today’s demonstration in Paris* against the cuts.
