news

The General Union of Workers in Seaports and Clearance, Jordan, has successfully agreed a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with APM Terminals, winning improved work contracts and other benefits.

After 15 months of hard work and negotiations the CBA was signed, covering over 200 workers at Aqaba container terminal and giving them:

  • unlimited working contracts (replacing their existing limited working contracts)

  • a JOD125 housing allowance per month

  • a social solidarity fund

The ITF-affiliated union thanked APM Terminals for is cooperation, and expressed gratitude to the ITF Arab World regional secretary Bilal Malkawi for his continued support. The union now hopes to achieve the same benefits for all of its members across Jordan as it negotiates further CBAs.
