Specialists in organising come together at ITF

ニュース

Transport workers are at the centre of the world’s supply chains. They move goods from their source and production to consumers worldwide. When transport workers are linked along global supply chains, they become truly powerful.

Reflecting this, and the day-to-day experience of its affiliates, the ITF now has a new team dedicated to linking workers throughout global supply chains.

The supply chain and logistics organising projects team, or SCALOP, will hold its first ever supply chain and logistics symposium next week. Running from 12-13 November, this will be a unique opportunity for unions to come together in London to share campaign experiences and develop joined up strategies to take advantage of their crucial position. Speakers will include Sharan Burrow, International Trade Union Confederation’s general secretary, as well as specialists and academics in the field.

“Transport workers keep the world moving”, stated Ingo Marowsky, global head of supply chain and logistics organising projects. “Governments, regulators and employers need to understand our role in, and value to, the global distribution process. It’s time to link forces and forge alliances, sending a strong message that transport workers can make or break any such process.”
