African unions demand Madagascar act on Malagasy 43 as ITF tells ICTSI to back up statements with actions

The Madagascan Government will be the target of a protest at 08:30 tomorrow (18 October) at the African Ports Evolution conference in Durban, South Africa. The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), and its affiliate the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU), will demand that the government immediately take all necessary steps to reinstate 43 dock workers sacked at the ICTSI-operated Port of Toamasina

ICTSI faces landowner, worker fight in PNG

The PNG Maritime and Transport Workers Union (PNGMTWU) and landowner groups are holding protests in Lae and Port Moresby today against Philippine port operator, International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI). ICTSI recently signed an agreement to operate the Motukea Port, Port Moresby, and the Port of Lae.

DP-DHL, the ITF and UNI Global Union agree continuous dialogue until December 2019

DP-DHL (Deutsche Post DHL Group), the ITF (International Transport Workers' Federation) and UNI Global Union have jointly asked the German National Contact Point (NCP) for the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises to extend a protocol to continue regular dialogue on industrial relations topics.

GENERAL SECRETARY
Stephen Cotton
Stephen Cotton was elected at the 43rd ITF Congress in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2014, re-elected at the 46th ITF Congress in Singapore, 2018 and the 46th ITF Congress in Marrakech, 2024. Under his leadership, the ITF has transformed into a proactive campaigning organisation, allowing the ITF and its affiliates to secure industry-leading contracts and protocols with key multinational companies in the transport sector.

Paddy Crumlin
Paddy Crumlin is the President of the ITF, a position he has held since 2010. He is also National Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), a role he has held since 2000, National President of the Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU), and a Member of the Executive Board of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU).
ITF’s wider elected leadership include regional Vice Presidents, as well as and industrial section and department chairs. They can be contacted through the press team.
