ITF calls for action over kidnapped crew

The ITF and its member unions ver.di, the SUR (Seafarers’ Union of Russia) and MTWTU (Marine Transport Workers' Trade Union of Ukraine) are calling for a fast but reasoned response to the kidnapping of eight crew members of the BBC Caribbean in the Gulf of Guinea. The seafarers – seven Russians and a Ukrainian – were taken off the cargo ship by pirates and are believed to be being held hostage in Nigeria.

OSM Aviation and ITF sign international agreement to protect workers’ rights

Norway’s OSM Aviation and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) recognising the right of employees to organise and laying the basis for genuine representation and collective bargaining rights to raise standards and working conditions, and to ensure professional services in the international aviation sector.

¡No Pasarán! The ITF and the Spanish Civil War

Global union federation the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) today releases an illustrated booklet recounting the organisation’s fight to support the lawful Republic during the Spanish Civil War, and how the lessons it learnt there allowed it to work with Allied intelligence to fight Nazism in World War Two.
