Jimena Lopez is a cabin crew member and founder of Ecuador’s SITA (Sindicato de Trabajadores de Aerolane) union. She was unjustly sacked by the LAN Ecuador airline. The ITF is making her the centrepiece of its mobilisation around 8 March and demanding her reinstatement. Details of what ITF unions are doing on Sunday can be found at www.8March2015.org.
To further support Jimena Lopez the ITF is sending an international delegation to Ecuador. For details see www.itfglobal.org/en/news-events/press-releases/2015/march/international-union-mission-arrives-in-ecuador-to-protest-airline-sacking. For International Women’s Day the ITF is using these hashtags: #supportjimena, #apoyandoajimena, #IWD). It has also initiated a LabourStart campaign – see www.labourstart.org/go/jimena
