Commitment to DHL protocol emphasised at union leaders’ meet in Panama

ニュース

Union leaders from Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Panama met with DHL management in Panama city last week to solidify their desire for continued dialogue between the two parties.

The ground-breaking protocol was agreed in July between the ITF and UNI Global Union and DHL following an international campaign drawing attention to failings within the company with regards working standards and industrial relations.

DHL campaign leader at the ITF Liz Blackshaw said: “This is a practical sign of the commitment that’s been made by both sides to work together at ensuring decent standards for workers in DHL and respect for trade union rights across the board, whether its as part of operations in Panama or India or Germany.

“The testimonies of workers in Panama were part of what brought unions and management together to agree this protocol so this is a next step. For them to meet and discuss what progress looks like moving forward. It’s a positive for us.”
