May Day, 1 May, the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) will be marking campaigns around the world that are strengthening and improving public transport for everyone, as part of the federation's Our Public Transport programme.

A commitment to increasing practical action to secure the International Labour Organization (ILO) convention on violence and harassment in the workplace was one of the main outcomes of the ITF women transport workers committee meeting in London on 24-25 April.

Commenting on Workers’ Memorial Day, which takes place tomorrow 28 April, ITF president Paddy Crumlin said: “This is the day we remember all those, known and unknown, friends and strangers, who have suffered injury or death in the workplace. It’s the day we remember the dead and fight for the living.

European pension funds have made progress in acting to protect workers’ rights ahead of retirement but need to do more, a new ITF report has revealed.

A new report examines whether European pension funds – built to provide a decent retirement for working people – are also acting to protect those workers’ rights ahead of retirement. Authored by Tom Powdrill, responsible investment coordinator at the ITF (International Transport Workers' Federation), it shows that funds have made progress in the area, but have still to achieve their full potential to improve lives.
