ITF seminar in Nepal on ILO convention on ending violence at work

news

The ITF has hosted a regional seminar on how unions can lobby their governments to push for an ILO convention on ending violence and harassment at work.

Thirty-six leaders from unions in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in the event in Kathmandu on 19 January 2019.

Anna Lee Fos-Tuvera from the ITUC explained how the convention could benefit workers.

The participants made a plan to coordinate how they will lobby and pressure their government and employers’ groups to support the convention.

To conclude, everyone present committed themselves to actively lobby their government to ensure a meaningful convention for all workers – formal and informal.
