Over the last year, ITF has worked with affiliates in every sector and region to produce papers that outline what our positions are in defining the nature of the technological challenges we face, and in outlining what our responses are to these challenges.
These papers are a starting point, not an end point. They do not represent the ITF’s final word on the issues, but they do indicate to affiliates and the outside world what we consider important, as well as the general outline of what our response will be.
Over the coming months, ITF will be developing a new website and new materials covering the FOW, including policy, toolkits, campaigning and other materials that will be helpful to affiliates encountering the impacts of new technologies.
There are two types of paper – Positions (which lay out the challenges) and Responses (which lay out the response to these).
The papers were developed during 2019 and were consulted with the sections, regions and departments of the ITF, as well as with affiliates. The papers were approved at the October 2019 EB.
Because of the complexity of the issues around the impacts of new technology, these documents are intended to be ‘living documents’ that can be amended in line with experience.
The documents are structured in line with the following illustration. Click on the image below to open the relevant PDF paper.
