This photo was taken on a foggy evening in the Mediterranean as our vessel, Monte Cervantes prepares to depart the port of Alexandria in Egypt.

This is Jhon, patiently waiting for the orders to let go the lines, seemingly reaching the future looking in, and in distance wanting to see his loved ones.

Jhon will be marrying his fiancé this year and for him, as the days past, the belongingness gets stronger every single day.

As seafarers, being away from our loved ones is a continuous fight. We fight so that we can provide a better future that will endure time, an exchange to the sacrifices we deal with today. Looking far away, we dive in the reality of life - away from the colors that makes us alive. For colors at times, are just distractions to the black and whites. That sometimes we may feel dead but often we are just blinded by the red and yellows.

I look forward to every end of contract as one of my brothers/sisters will again meet their loved ones and share the longing they have been keeping with themselves.

I look forward to every dreams realized through the boldness and dedication of my brothers and sister in pursuit of the unreachable stars.

I look forward to strengthened relationships molded by the burst of happy memories made in short vacations and the enduring love from a distance.

Yes, I will look forward and so will I look away, away from the glaring colors for I am weak at times and all I need is His presence, then I will be made strong again and continue my fight that is far away from ending.
