The ITF Asia Pacific region is growing in numbers and in strength.

Members of ITF road and rail unions worldwide meet in Belgium today to set the agenda for the future of those transport sectors. One of their first actions will be to rally in central Brussels against European Union plans that could undermine worker protections and quality transport.

Global union federation the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) begins a week-long conference in Brussels on Monday that will confront the issues facing rail and road workers – and passengers – worldwide. One of their first actions will be to rally in the city against the European Union’s proposed fourth railway package.

The ITF and its union Alianza de Tranviarios de México (ATM) made a passionate plea for Mexico City not to abandon the sustainable system of trolleybuses as it seeks changes to the city’s transport systems.

Hundreds of dockworkers from ETF and ITF-affiliated unions will demonstrate tomorrow in front of the offices of Northern European logistics company Unifeeder in Aarhus, Denmark for allowing seafarers to lash and unlash their charted vessels. This is in direct contravention of the ITF dockers’ clause which specifically reserves lashing and unlashing work for dockers.

Next Monday 5 December trade union representatives and leaders from 42 countries worldwide will join a rally in central Brussels against the European Union’s proposed fourth railway package.

Trade union delegates representing transport workers from across the Asia Pacific region will meet in Tokyo, Japan this week for their regional International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) conference. The event runs from 28-30 November.

Hundreds of dockworkers from ITF and ETF-affiliated unions will descend on the offices of Northern European logistics company Unifeeder in Aarhus, Denmark on Friday 2 December, to continue the next stage of the ITF/ETF European Lashing Campaign. The campaign is spearhead by Danish union 3F.
