Our achievements

ITF’s campaigns get results for transport workers.

ITF campaigns on behalf of almost five million transport workers from across the globe.

ITF unions have been involved in a number of activities to improve transport workers’ rights. Here are just a few of our achievements:

  • Won two collective-bargaining agreements (CBAs) with UPS in Turkey
  • Recruited 4,540 new union members and activists, created nine new unions and committees, secured five union-recognition agreements and five collective-bargaining agreements in UPS Cologne, Germany
  • Established new unions and bargaining agreements for Latam workers in Argentina, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia and Ecuador
  • Built an active network of 16,808 members, in 25 unions and five federations, in seven Latin American countries, Australia and Spain
  • The Arab World transport trade union development programme built regional ports and aviation networks, and prompted the formation of 14 new independent unions that affiliated to the ITF
  • Recruited 4,954 new members through an education programme funded by Sask in Mozambique and Angola, with 20 new CBAs signed
  • Increased women’s membership of the General Union of Transport Workers by 20 percent. Their participation rose by 30 percent
  • Built a new office for the Gaza Bus Drivers Union (BDU) and the Palestine General Union of Transport Workers
  • Led campaigning to stop violence against women in workplaces and communities by launching the ITF Action guide in 2013
  • Worked with the International Foodworkers’ Union (IUF) on its joint ‘Catcher to counter’ campaign to combat illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, and to increase union power for all workers along the fisheries supply chain
  • Strengthened the Papua New Guinea Maritime Workers Industrial Union’s (PNGMTWU) influence and helped it progress towards recognition and CBAs in five companies. Our aim is to build union power and win for workers in the transport sector

Together we win!
