The ITF’s Latin America leaders are supporting trade union efforts in Venezuela to build their strength to better support and represent their members in the country’s transport industry.

The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) is welcoming revelations of tax avoidance and related activities in the leaked Panama Papers this week in the hope that the exposure will lead to a change in the current climate of tacit approval for this kind of socially damaging behaviour.

An ITF union in Panama has signed an agreement with global logistics giant DHL that includes big improvements for workers at the company.

The ITF is building its support for rail unions in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), to help make them even stronger for tackling the challenges of globalisation, general secretary Steve Cotton told trade unions during a visit to Moscow.
