The ITF Women’s Committee in the Democratic Republic of Congo participated in the launch of the 16 Days of Activism on Violence Against Women and Girls organised by the Ministry of Gender, Child and Family (DRC) with UN agencies. The international theme was the UN campaign: «Orangez le monde, #ÉcoutezMoiAussi» (Orange the World, #HearMeToo). Women's movements at national and regional level were called upon to create opportunities for dialogue between activists, decision-makers and the public.

Workshop on violence against women and sexual harassment, by the ITF-Togo Women’s Network at the Fédération Syndicale des Travailleurs des Transports du Togo (FESYTRAT), Lome. The workshop discussed the ‘legal arsenal’ at women disposal, which protects the rights of women and girls in the country. However, the lack of knowledge of these laws leave women totally unprotected. Participants to the workshop were invited to make use of such laws by denouncing the violence, to work towards its eradication; and to participate actively in trade union activities to raise awareness and build capacity.

Training day in Mombasa, Kenya, supported by the BTB project, bringing together both men and women from the dockers’ and truckers’ sections. They reflected on 2017 training and the impact it had at the workplace, looking at attitude change and the way forward.
MSTKS, India, held a workshop that was attended by 220 of their members. They discussed their trade unions struggles to end violence and create zero violence at workplaces. Their agenda also included the gendered nature of violence against women, and the evidence that promoting respect, safety or ethics without a gender lens, will not reduce its prevalence.
Considering all above facts, the male members of MSTKS along with MSTKS General Secretary and President took an oath that: They will not create violence, they will never allow violence, they will deny violence, and all of them will create a respectful atmosphere at the workplace.
Women Committee members from the Transport and Dockers, MBPT Docks & General Employees Union, and National Union of Seafarers of India, organized a ‘Stop violence against women’ event. Fifty women delegates took part in the event in Mumbai and shared the experiences they had suffered in their respective workplaces.
