ITF evidence on trafficked fishers goes to Myanmar embassy in Jakarta

ITF Maritime Coordinator Jacqueline Smith said: "At this stage our sole aim is to work with the Indonesian and Myanmar governments to get these men back home to their families".

Sonny Pattiselanno, Deputy Secretary-General of KPI who is leading the delegation locally will handover the evidence gathered to the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta on Monday.

Hanafi Rustandi, ITF Regional President of Asia Pacific has pledged his support for both government's successful repatriation of these workers.

Local KPI leaders in Ambon, led by Uten Bumulo, Sh. Branch Chair of the KPI union will continue to make sure these men receive all wages owing to them from local work whilst making sure they are safe from any retaliation

No further media information will be released until the appropriate government agencies are involved.
