ITF statement on Air India flight AI171 crash

Notícias Comunicado à imprensa

The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) is shocked and saddened by the crash of Air India flight AI171 to London Gatwick shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhai Patel Internation Airport in Ahmedabad.

Our thoughts are with the crew, passengers and their families. The ITF also shares concern for the community in Ahmedabad that flight AI171 crashed into, including a doctors’ hostel.

We extend full solidarity to the first responders working at the scene of the crash, battling dangerous conditions and extreme heat in a highly complex operation.

The ITF will coordinate with its affiliate unions in India as they respond to this tragedy. We recognise the courage of those working to respond to this devastating accident, including workers at the airport, in the control towers and at the crash site.
