“Dignity dies during a contract flip,” says Yavar Khan Qadri, a security contractor at Toronto Pearson Airport, “because it keeps workers on minimum wage.” That affects everyone’s safety at the airport. “We’ve had baggage carts crashing into each other. We’ve had people hitting planes with catering trucks.” Now the airport has a Workers’ Council and that gives Yavar hope.
