The ITF carried out a survey between 1998-2002, designed to provide international information to ITF affiliates  on discriminatory treatment of men and women by employers on recruitment, in employment and in providing for their retirement. The ITF produced a report on the findings 'Equality testing in Transport', available from the ITF Secretariat.

Affiliates have called for a review in order to look at whether there have been any improvements in provisions over the last 10 years.
