10 Dec 2008 ITF calls for support for the Hebei Two The ITF is asking affilated unions and organisations to join us in condemning the guilty verdict of Captain Jasprit Chawla and Chief Officer Syam Chetan.
The two were sentenced to 1.5 years and 8 months imprisonment respectively by a South Korean court for alleged criminal negligence after the Hebei Spirit spill, in a decision that the ITF has branded ‘incomprehensibly vindictive’. Take Action: Send a Protest Letter

International solidarity needed to help secure the release of Hebei spirit officers. The ITF is calling on affiliated unions to highlight the plight of two officers, members of ITF Indian seafaring affiliate, who are detained in South Korea following an oil spill from their ship last year.
