Ref: Protest Letter - Iranian bus union leader re-arrested
For the attention of: His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinjad President of the Republic of Iran
Dear Dr. Ahmadinjad
I am writing to you to express deep concern over the safety of Mansour Osanloo, President of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherkat-e Vahed).
I understand from the International Transport Workers' Federation that on 19th November, Mansour Osanloo - who has recently undergone eye surgery - was violently arrested in the street and bundled into a car. Osanloo was due to appear in court on 21 November.
This latest development is a major setback for human rights in Iran. I therefore urge you to free Mansour Osanloo immediately and unconditionally, and take immediate measures to ensure that all sentences against other trade unionists are unconditionally dropped.
Yours sincerely
