Seafarer fatigue - where next?*

Seafarer fatigue is a serious problem, on which the ITF is campaigning to raise awareness and to address the fundamental issue of minimum levels of safe manning. The publications below have been produced to further this aim.

"Adequate manning and seafarers' fatigue: The international perspective" is an academic report written by Professor Andy Smith of the Centre for Occupational and Health Psychology, Cardiff University.

"Seafarer Fatigue: Where next?" is a summary document based on the above report and the results of a six-year research programme led by the same author, entitled "Seafarer Fatigue: The Cardiff Research Programme"

"Fight Fatigue!" is a campaign package consisting of a brochure and poster designed to assist unions in lobbying their administrations.

Justice for Pedro Zamora and STEPQ

Pedro Zamora, General Secretary of the Dockers' union STEPQ, was brutally murdered in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, while driving his two children from the port hospital. Now, other union leaders face similar threats of violence. We must ensure the guilty are brought to justice ¡No hay impunidad! more >>
