Women in road transport

Women road transport workers met for the first time in London in September 2005 (see report, below, for details). As a result, some new initiatives are being developed for the Road Transport Section. One of these is a survey of women in the industry focusing on health and safety issues, carrried out between 2006-2007.

The ITF has produced a report (see below) on the findings “Women on the road to a safe and healthy working environment”.  This ground-breaking guide has been prepared for trade unions in the transport sector, with the object of encouraging them to work closely with women workers in the sector.

Justice for Pedro Zamora and STEPQ

Pedro Zamora, General Secretary of the Dockers' union STEPQ, was brutally murdered in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, while driving his two children from the port hospital. Now, other union leaders face similar threats of violence. We must ensure the guilty are brought to justice ¡No hay impunidad! more >>
