Workers at Indian Terminal win Collective Bargaining Agreement

The ITF affiliated Transport and Dock Workers Union (TDWU) has succeeded in signing a Collective Bargaining Agreement with two contractors – Thakur Infraprojects Pvt and Casby Logistics – who employ port drivers in the GTI Terminal in Mumbai. This comes a year after an agreement was signed between the TDWU and a third contractor, Allcargo.

Teamsters win improvements for their members at First Student Inc.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has succeeded in winning improvements to the working conditions of more than 20,000 of their members, after a new agreement was reached with First Student Inc, the largest private provider of school bus transport in the USA. Nine out of ten bus drivers employed by First Student are members of the Teamsters.

The four year national deal improves workplace protection and working conditions and is believed to be the first time a labour union and a private school bus contractor have signed a collective agreement that incorporates the prnciples of freedom of association, or the right to collectively bargain.

UPS airline mechanics in the US to vote on agreement

An ITF-affiliated union has reached a tentative deal on a contract for UPS Airlines mechanics in the US.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and UPS Airlines agreed on the settlement on 21 January, with the assistance of the National Mediation Board. The deal is the culmination of four years of negotiations.
