20 December 2012
An Israeli union has won a collective agreement providing railway workers with a bonus payment and a substantial wage hike among other benefits.
The ITF-affiliated transport workers’ division of Histadrut and the railway employees’ committee signed a collective agreement on 7 December, which will see workers receive a bonus of NIS12,000 (US$3,133) and a 20 per cent wage rise. In addition, they will also be eligible for pay increases in line with public sector workers, the working conditions of “second generation” workers will be the same as those of “first-generation” workers and allocations to provident funds will be increased. Approximately 80 operational contract workers will also be covered by the collective agreement.
