Dutch unions reach deal with TNT
5 February 2010
Unions in the Netherlands have reached an “in-principle” agreement with TNT on a collective agreement and social plan.
The agreement negotiated by Dutch unions ABVAKABO and FNV, is set to run from April 2009 and 31 December 2011. The settlement includes a 0.7 per cent pay rise from 1 January 2010 for all TNT employees across the Netherlands. Individual collective agreements are being negotiated from April 2010 for the separate divisions – TNT Post, TNT Express and TNT Post Parcel Service.
The parties also agreed on a new social plan, which provides employees aged 50 and above with additional financial incentives to accept voluntary redundancy and outlines the amount of severance pay those facing compulsory redundancy are set to receive on termination of employment.
The new agreement and the social plan form a key part of the company’s proposals to achieve annual savings of 395 million euros from 2015.
