Solidarity
The ITF/ETF was created out of solidarity between striking workers and we still believe that the best way for transport workers to build global structures is by backing other workers in their struggles.
Current Issues:
2 November 2006: ETF shares concerns of Moroccan trade union Union des Syndicats UMT des Transports over the possible dismissal of 2000 dock workers
17 May 2006: ETF supports the Port Workers' Union at Khour Al-Zubeir Port in Iraq
9 May 2006: Romanian port workers’ union FNSP protests against the growing informal work in Romanian seaports
22 June 2005: Railway Strike in Romania
9 February 2005: ETF supports the railway trade union action in FYR Macedonia!

Press update: latest on An Yue Jiang
At late morning today the vessel was approximately 120 nautical miles off the coast of Namibia, in international waters, making around 8.5 knots (the slower speed than before is because it is sailing against the Benguela current). The current position as of 16:45 BST today is estimated to be due west of Walvis Bay, but well outside of Namibian territorial waters. If the An Yue Jiang continues at its current speed and course its estimated time of arrival off Cape Town will be late night on Monday 12th May. If it increases speed to 10 knots its ETA would be mid-afternoon on 12th May. more >>
