The handbook on social dialogue is a useful tool to provide the needed information for transport workers to improve the capacity for understanding social dialogue at the level of union membership as well as a mutual understanding between unions in different countries. The goal for trade unions is that their members benefit from this information and they are trained in their work on European social dialogue.
The main objective of the project, which ran from 1 June 2010 until 31 May 2011, was to improve the exchange of information and experience of trade union representatives in relation to the social dialogue with all the involved aspects. The project focused on the following issues:
- Increase the level of knowledge of the social partners in the social dialogue field and promote the concept of social dialogue;
- Promoting industrial relations between social partners;
- Mobilising trade union action in the social dialogue area in the transport sector in Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and FYR Macedonia
The implementation of the project was coordinated by the UNITATEA Free Trade Union of Metro Workers (USLM) with the assistance of the following project partners: Federation of Transport Workers Podkrepa, Railwaymen’s Trade Union of Croatia SŽH, Trade Union of Transport and Communication, National Convention of Transport Workers and the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF).
