A film produced by the East Japan Railway Workers' Union, focusing on safety in the workplace, will be shown at 13:30 in the main hall today.

Film: European dockers' fight against the European ports directive

The film screening today wil be of a Dutch film about the campaign by European dockers against the European Union's proposed ports directive. It will take place in the main hall from 13:15.

Meeting: Organising globally in Maersk

This meeting will now be held tomorrow in meeting room 21 at 12:00-14:00. It was originally scheduled for Sunday.

Documentary on HIV/AIDS in East Africa

A film screening of Highway of Hope: Fighting HIV/AIDS on East Africa’s Northern Corridor, a special documentary report for the ITF, will take place in the main hall at 13:30 today.

Meeting on a global campaign on Maersk

An unscheduled meeting, focusing on the global campaign on Maersk will take place today at 18:00 in Hall 2c. The meeting is in English only.

African social evening

An African social evening hosted by the ITF’s African affiliates, with food, drinks and entertainment will be held in Hall 2A-B-F-H from 19:30 onwards.


Turbulent Waters: Part Two

Film screening: part two of Turbulent Waters, a film about the ITF’s flag of convenience campaign, will be shown in the main hall at 13:15.

Flag of convenience shipping in the spotlight

This lunchtime we will be showing the first half of the film Turbulent Waters, an investigation into international shipping practices and the treatment of seafarers on flag of convenience ships.

The film will be shown in the main hall at 13:15. The second half will be shown at the same time tomorrow.

Film focus on bullying and harassment

Tomorrow lunchtime we will be showing a film made in cooperation with the British union, the National Union of Marine, Aviation and Shipping Transport Officers, titled “Say no to bullying, say no to harassment”. The film will be shown in the main hall at 1.30pm.

Welcome to Congress!

A warm welcome to all delegates attending the ITF's 41st Congress at Durban’s International Convention Centre – more than 1,000 participants from 387 unions in 111 countries have registered for the event this year.

During Congress, you will get the chance to watch some of the films made by affiliates; tomorrow at 13:30 in the main hall, we will be showing a film from the Transport Workers' Union of Australia focusing on organising a strong union.
