2006 World Cup: No to forced prostitution and human trafficking
The International Transport Workers’ Federation, and its European arm the European Transport Workers’ Federation, have expressed support for women’s groups and trade unions both inside and outside Germany, who are campaigning against the forced prostitution of women and girls during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in June and July this year.
A statement >> has been agreed by the executive bodies of the ETF and ITF calling for action by transport unions to draw attention to this issue, in particular focusing on football fans travelling to matches.
Materials have been designed to bring home the message that human trafficking and forced prostition are criminal activities and urging fans not to risk being part of this exploitation, and are available on this site.
