Unions Say No to Violence!

The next International Action Day will be held on 28 April 2009.  The main theme for this event will focus on violence in public transport.  The ITF Railway Workers' Section Conference in December 2008 unanimously endorsed this campaign day and agreed to invite ITF unions who represent bus and taxi workers, where relevant and appropriate. It is no coincidence that this global event takes place on the Workers' Memorial Day.

Many ITF unions have already highlighted the issues related to harassment and violence at work in the past and we are hoping that an international focus will further deliver the union message firmly to transport users, fellow colleagues, media, policy-makers and politicians.

For further details, please email Mac Urata, Section Secretary, ITF Inland Transport Sections.
