Ryanair Wages - Nice Try, but Not Good Enough

We had a closer look at the latest four-year pay-deal and analysed it all. The truth: Ryanair cabin crews are not getting the wages they deserve for the hard work they put in. Long flight hours, little rest time, Niners, all of this deserves better pay and proper compensation. A brief look on some of the highlights below and it is clear: It is a nice try, and was definitely overdue, but it is not good enough. Time to stop this way of receiving presents, time to negotiate proper contracts!

  • Wage Increase: The increase over the next years is 1,8% or 1,7%, but inflation in Europe is already higher than that in most countries were cabin crew are based. So, with every year of the four-year-deal, we save money for Ryanair.
  • 900 hours from April 2008: This is not owed to Ryanair's generosity or concern about our well-being. This is becoming the law throughout Europe, and 2008 is the latest deadline for it to be implemented by the national aviation authorities (if Ireland did it sooner, it would have to be applied even sooner).
  • Niners? Still there...
