Lithuania
In preparation for the Action Day, the Lithuanian Transport Workers' Federation sent an appeal to the Lithuanian trade union confederations, to the Parliament and the government about the situation in Iran. A picket was held at the Lithuanian government in Vilnius. Information about the campaign was distributed to the public and government officials to raise awareness of the need for trade union and human rights to be observed in Iran.

Romania
The metro workers' union, ULSMA has today organised a meeting to discuss the importance of freedom of association and the campaign in solidarity with workers in Iran. A protest letter was sent by the union to the Leader of the Islamic Rebublic of Iran to demand the release of Mansour Osanloo and Mahmoud Salehi from prison. Activities were also organised by the union to mark the International Railway Workers' Action Day.

Russia
The Vice-President and Head of the Organising Department of the Motor Transport and Road Construction Workers' Union of Russia have visited the Iranian Embassy in Moscow today and had a discussion with an official of the Embassy. The union handed over protest letters signed by all members of the ITF Coordinating Committee of Russian affiliates. The letters were accepted by the Embassy official and will be forwarded to the Ambassador.

Germany
ITF Inspectors in Hamburg have this morning visited the European headquarters of the Iranian shipping company (IRISL). The Inspectors delivered campaign information to the General Manager and his assistant during their meeting.
