Staff reduction programme concluded with Maersk in the Netherlands

FNV Press Release

Staff reduction programme concluded with Maersk in the Netherlands

On Tuesday 11 February 2008, FNV Bondgenoten and Maersk reached agreement on a staff reduction programme.

Major components of the programme include a good compensation scheme, a six-month outplacement period on full pay, and a minimum amount of three months pay for all employees who will be made redundant.

Furthermore, the programme includes allowances in order to cover lawyer’s costs and financial advice, while trade union members will be reimbursed for their membership fees for a period of two years.

The reorganisation with Maersk in the Netherlands is part of the world-wide ‘Streamline reorganisation’, whereby the international area-based structure is brought back to a country-based organisation. Since Rotterdam was an office for the international region-based structure, the loss of about 160 jobs is very substantial.
