International Women's Day 2012

For the past 11 years, ITF affiliates have participated in the ITF campaign for International Women’s Day on the 8th of March by organising practical activities to campaign for and secure women transport workers’ rights and increase their visibility and participation in the union movement. The ITF Women’s Committee is once again calling on affiliates to mark the day.

What can you and your union do?

PLAN AN ACTIVITY: As in previous years, we will highlight your events on this campaign site. Take a look at what ITF unions did in 2011.

ORDER CAMPAIGN MATERIALS: The ITF has produced a new campaign poster in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Turkish and Arabic. The materials carry the slogan, ‘Your Union Your Future: Be Part of Something Big, Join a Transport Union’. The materials reflect the ITF’s Organising Globally campaign which focuses on unions growing through organising, especially those that target women and youth transport workers.

Tell us about your activities and order your campaign materials here by Friday 3rd February 2012, or email us at women@itf.org.uk

Spread the word

Upload the campaign banner and logos to your union site, and facebook pages, share the campaign url with your colleagues and friends.

SHARE YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEOS: Send photos and/or videos from your campaign activity to: women@itf.org.uk we will feature these on this site.

The International Women’s Day campaign is part of a wider umbrella campaign by the International Trade Union Confederation, who on 8 March 2008 launched a global campaign for decent work, decent life for women.
