Petition: PALEA IS HERE TO STAY
For over two years the ITF affiliated Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association (PALEA) - the ground crew union of Philippines Airlines (PAL) - has been fighting an outsourcing plan that threatened to lay off 2,600 employees and then downgrade their status from regular to contractual workers.

As part of its fight against the layoffs, on 27th September PALEA began a sit-down protest action at the airport and other offices that paralysed the operations of the flag carrier. They have informed us that the response from PAL and the Philippine government was to forcibly evict the protesting workers using the police and security guards. The protesting workers have also been locked out and declared dismissed as of October 1st.

Trade unionists worldwide are calling on the Philippines Government to scrap the outsourcing plans, stop the lock out, allow the workers to return to their jobs and open talks to resolve the dispute. Please add your voice to this urgent plea:
