Argentina
The Union Personal Superior y Profesional de Empresas Aerocomerciales plans to reach out to its membership to promote improved working conditions for women transport workers’. They will be visiting union branches to distribute posters and stickers and talk about women transport workers rights.

Australia

The Women of the MUA will be marching at rallies around the country. This years’ event is to be a huge even due to it coinciding with the Annual Gay and lesbian Mardi Gras.

Barbados
The Barbados Workers Union have planned a ‘Clothesline project’ outlining issues related to safety, health, job security, and discrimination, particularly in view of the  economic crisis with special reference to the women’s vulnerability.

Belgium
The BTB will be planning a series of activities to highlight the campaign.

Botswana
The Botswana Railways Amalgamated Union, BRAWU have organised workshops to sensitise unions to mobilise women in their areas of operation.

Canada
CAW will be holding a free celebration at their regional office on women’s day; they will have inspirational speakers, entertainment and a silent auction to promote the day.

Congo
The Syndicat National des Travailleurs du Congo organised a seminar on sexual harassment and a rally on the 8th March.  The theme of the celebrations centered on raising women’s union participation and the empowerment of women in the transport sector.

France
The FGTE will visit an urban transport company in Lyon; they will distribute t-shirts and stickers highlighting women’s rights. They will also play a game similar to trivial pursuit to highlight discrimination in the workplace. In their union office in Paris they will be distributing bookmarks and celebrating the day, and they will also be sending an electronic postcard.

Georgia
Republican Committee of Trade Unions of Georgian Automobile Transport and Highways' Workers organised a day of action for women transport workers’ and held a rally outside the Georgian Parliament.  The women emphasised the need to raise wages within the transport sector and to improve working conditions for women workers.

Germany
TRANSNET will be organising meetings in all the different regions to mark women’s day.

Honduras
The Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Empresa Nacional Portuaria, SITRAENP, are collaborating in organising a mass rally that is to take place thought the main streets of Puerto Cortes.  Representatives of other trade unions, youth and student representatives and many other social groups will be present.

India
Seminars, workshops and other events will be held by the All India Railwaymen’s Federation to create awareness on women’s rights.

The All India Port & Dock Workers Federation held a seminar to mark the day with participation from about 150 women.

The NF Mazdoor Union held a meeting to mark women’s day.

The Cochin Port Staff Association held workshops, social and cultural program’s to highlight issues regarding Women’s rights.


Jordan
The General Trade Union of Workers in Air Transport and Tourism will be writing articles for local media to highlight women’s day. ITF brochures and campaign material will be distributed in workplaces. The union has also begun an exercise to ‘map’ women’s work roles and will be using the results to influence policy makers.

The General Union of Railway Workers will hold educational sessions and a workshop to inform and educate women of their rights in the transport sector and how to improve their working conditions.

The General Union of Petrochemical will be holding several educational sessions and a workshop to inform women on their rights. They will also distribute posters and stickers.

Latvia
The Latvian Seafarers planned a special day to mark women’s day with women seafarers’ and seafarers’ wives.

Lebanon
The Lebanese Cabin Crew Association will hold a seminar on the importance of trade union participation.

Malawi
The Central East African Railways Workers’ Union will organise a rally near the local railway station and distributing campaign posters. They will also conduct meetings with management to discuss women’s rights at work.

Mauritius
The Transport Corporation Employees Union will be distributing campaign materials.

The Government Servants Association held a one day workshop to conmemorate  International Women’s Day.

Mongolia
The Mongolian Transport Communication and Petroleum Workers Union plan to conduct a survey on women's rights at work; they will also give training to women workers’ concerning their rights and will be holding meetings to discuss gender issues. The union will also work with NGO’s that work closely with women.

Nepal
The Independent Transport Workers Association of Nepal organised a rally for women’s day together with other affiliates. An interaction programme with policy makers on women workers rights is also planned.

Norway
Norwegian Seafarers Union (NSU) marked the day with a women’s seminar.

Pakistan
The Pakistan Transport Workers' Federation will organise a rally and national seminar on 8th March to highlight the campaign.

Palestine
The General Union of Transport will be marking the occasion with a number of activities; this will include rallies, educational seminars about violence against women.

Puerto Rico
The Seafarers House in San Juan have planned various activities to mark the day. Employees will be wearing purple t-shirts, crew members and the local community have been invited to take part in activities, including a speech, several movies and an exhibition.

Serbia
The Trade Union of Railways Serbia have organised a campaign to highlight women’s day. They will also be organising humanitarian events.

Spain
C.OO will be mark the day by holding union meetings, passing a resolution on women rights and producing campaign posters and videos.

South Africa
The SATAWU will be holding a conference on the 8th March to highlight the day and outline their program that will be held on the 13th March on transforming of workplace campaign.

Switzerland
The SEV will be distribute red bags with equal pay logos and other campaign materials.

Uganda
The Uganda Railway Workers Union will mark the day by holding a seminar about the women's rights and their roles in the community.

Ukraine
The Railway Workers and Transport Constructors of Ukraine plan to host meetings with women activists, organise a newspaper campaign and concert to highlight the day.

Zambia
The Workers Union of Tazara plan to highlight two main causes, improving conditions for Women and sensitising women on HIV/Aids at their places of work.

The Railways workers Union of Zambia will be hold a rally and talk to women about their rights.

The NATAW will be working together with the Zambian Government to undertake various activities on the day. This will include sketches, songs and speeches.
