	This Conference is the latest of a series of events which follows an initial debate about the involvement of young transport workers in the work of the ITF at its Congress in Durban 2006. It follows a meeting of the Young Transport Workers Task Group in March 2008.   As it was also suggested that the Conference should consider a strong activist angle, it is linked to the World Day for Decent Work, sponsored by the Brussels-based International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and is supported by the Global Union family and specifically the ITF. This day takes place on the 7 October 2008, please see www.wddw.org   Together with a number of other Global Union Federations, we intend to make precarious and disposable work a central theme of the participation of the ITF and its affiliates, an issue which was also identified by the ask Group as an essential piece of work.
	We ask you to please try and observe the following for your participants:   Unions  should try and only send participants younger than 35 years of  age. Participants  should have direct experience in organising youth activities within their  union. Although  there may be limited support available, unions are requested to supply  necessary funding for the young worker’s participation. Please contact the  Secretariat about this. Unions  are free to choose the number of members of their  delegation.
