Description
The World Bank and Transport for Development

*Public seminar at Portcullis House, London, May 22, 2008

*ITF seminar at ITF House, London, May 23, 2008

The World Bank is about to publish its new transport business strategy, and on Friday May 23 its recently appointed transport sector chief, Marc Juhel, will make a presentation about it at a special seminar organised by ITF.

Selected affiliate representatives from all ITF sections and regions will have the opportunity to quiz Mr Juhel and discuss what the Bank's transport interventions will mean for transport workers.

The seminar is part of ITF's programme to improve the capacity of affiliates to protect their members and transport users when the World Bank and other international financial institutions restructure transport infrastructure and services.

The ITF is also supporting a public seminar organised by Public World and the Bretton Woods Project in London the previous day, to which all affiliates are invited.

The World Bank has been revising its new transport strategy for nearly two years, following publication of a first draft and ITF's comments on it (see documents below).
