Management withdrew direct employment commitment

Workers in APMT in the port of Mumbai are on hunger strike in support of a group of operations and maintenance staff who APM Terminals is refusing to directly employ.

The union asserts that management is going back on a commitment it made when it started operating in Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Mumbai, that after five years the workers would be directly employed rather than sub-contracted. Go to the campaign timeline for more details on the dispute >>
