10th October 2011: An ‘International Action Day’ has been coordinated for Monica as part of the ITF International Road Transport Action Week. A large demonstration has been planned outside DHL in Norway and union members in other countries where DHL operates are being urged to show their support for Monica and other DHL employees by organising similar protests. Fliers will also be handed out in the centre of Oslo and during the congress of the Norwegian United Federation of Trade Unions.

7 September 2011: Union representatives from Kraft Foods Norway, which is DHL Norway’s largest customer, wrote a letter to Kraft management in Norway and in Europe urging them to stop using DHL in Norway and in any country where DHL breaks laws, agreements or ILO conventions on worker’s rights.

1-2 August 2011: The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Norwegian Transport Workers’ Union filed an application with both the labour court and the civil court over Monica’s dismissal.

The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) is trying to interrupt the hearing in the labour court by questioning the labour courts’ right to rule in a case that they say is only about reinstating Monica.  It is reported that their position is based on claims that DHL has a clean record in Norway in respect of labour rights and therefore the labour court case must be put on hold until there is a civil court ruling.

LO believes that a ruling in the union’s favour in the labour court would be a huge blow to DHL and the NHO and that both the organisations are worried about evidence that might be supplied in the labour court.
