Ref: Protest Letter - Boycott Pakistan International Airlines
Dear General Musharraf, Dear Mr Kirmani, I am writing in protest at the anti union legislation which persists in Pakistan and which companies such as Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) continue to use in order to deny workers their rights in international law. As part of the coordinated action by aviation workers worldwide who object to the abuses of human and trade union rights perpetrated by the government of Pakistan and the management of PIAC, I call upon you to address these wrongs. This means ensuring workers’ rights to freedom of association and to free collective bargaining, according to internationally recognised standards. This also means ensuring that PIAC management engage in meaningful dialogue with the trade unions representing PIAC workers, in order to cease the current victimisation of trade union officials.
